Abstract

This research addresses the life and work of Professor Daysi Antonia Navarro Despaigne, Ph.D, a brilliant professional of Santiago origin who knew how to forge her prestige in Medicine through the training of doctors and Endocrinology specialists, overcoming with talent all the social barriers that reached the medical profession for women until she became an outstanding endocrinologist in our country. A documentary review, the analysis-synthesis of publications, and the analysis of her teaching, professional and work archive were carried out, in addition to interviews with her pupils and co-workers and the subsequent systematization of the results. For better understanding, Development was structured into Origins and higher studies, as well as Work and scientific life. The objective of this profile is to disseminate the life and work of this extraordinary professional so that her example will remain for posterity.
