Abstract

Introduction: Patient satisfaction is a key component in assessing the quality of health services as it influences adherence to treatments, clinical outcomes, and the overall perception of the care received.

Objective: To analyze the various variables that influence patient satisfaction in a Gynecology service.

Material and Methods: An observational, non-experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional study was performed. A sample of 171 women treated in the Gynecology Service of a Hospital belonging to Ecuador zone 3 was used. A survey designed by the Agency for Quality Assurance of Health Services and Prepaid Medicine (ACESS), which was adjusted to the interests of the study, was applied to determine satisfaction with the services. The management and analysis of the information was carried out by means of descriptive statistics using the statistical software SPSS v.25.0.

Results: It is highlighted that the reliability of the medical staff and the respect for privacy during the consultation are key factors that generated high levels of satisfaction (greater than 95%). The binary logistic regression structured in five variables such as age, level of education, occupation, health coverage and sector of residence showed that 74.3% of the cases are satisfied with the Gynecology service. When evaluating the Odds Ratio, it is obtained that when a patient is under age (≤ 18 years old), unemployed, or lives in a rural area, the patient´s probability of being dissatisfied with the Gynecology service is greater.

Conclusions: The study reveals that, although the gynecology service has important strengths, such as respect for privacy and staff reliability, significant challenges persist in areas related to equity in care and waiting times.
