Frequency of incisor trauma in children from 6 to 12 years old

Abstract

Introduction: traumatic loss of tooth has a big impact on infant’s quality of life, especially incisors. Children with incisor trauma suffer a negative impact on psychological and social comfort. Knowing of its characteristics might improve the prevention.
Objective:
to describe de incisors trauma prevalence on 6 to 12 years old children of an Elementary School.
Material and Methods:
this is a descriptive a transversal study. There were included 20 children with incisor traumatic injury. There were calculated frequencies and percentages.
Results:
scholars 70% were male and the bigger part was between 11 and 12 years old. 90% had uncomplicated crown fracture, 70% was caused by falls, 60% happens at home and 80% didn´t receive treatment.
Conclusions:
 incisors trauma was more frequently in male, in the age of 10 and 11. Most of these children didn’t receive treatment for dental trauma.
