Guided endodontics on calcified canals using computed tomography

Introduction: Guided endodontics, despite being an expensive treatment due to the novel technology used for its implementation, has encouraging results as a treatment, so it is imperative to inquire about previous results.
Objective: To synthesize scientific evidence to characterize scientific production on guided endodontics on calcified canals using computed tomography.
Material and Methods: A systematic review of scientific articles related to guided endodontics on calcified canals using computed tomography was carried out. The information sources consulted were: The PudMed, Science Direct, Europe PMC databases, as well as the academic search engine Google Scholar. The following descriptors were determined: “Guided endodontics”, “duct calcification”, “computed tomography”, as well as the key words or phrases root canal treatment and conventional endodontics.
Results: A total of 61 articles investigated in the review of this work were reported, of which 47 correspond to clinical cases in which a success rate of 96% of the total cases was verified without any complications. The PubMed database and publications in quartile 1 were the most frequent. The application areas with the highest ACC were Guided Endodontics with 29 articles, with an ACC of 12.58 on average and calcification with 15 articles with an average ACC of 10.78.
Conclusions: Most of the studies included in this research show positive results on the use of guided endodontics on calcified canals using computed tomography, which brings important advantages for the patient and orthodontists over the conventional endodontic technique.
