Calidad de vida relativa a la función visual, posterior a facotrabeculectomía

Introducción: La catarata y el glaucoma son las primeras causas de ceguera en Cuba y el mundo. La facotrabeculectomía permite solucionar ambas enfermedades en un solo acto quirúrgico.
Objetivo: Evaluar la recuperación visual, el control de la presión intraocular y la calidad de vida relativa a la función visual, posterior a facotrabeculectomía.
Material y Métodos: Estudio pre-experimental en 93 ojos (93 pacientes) con glaucoma primario de ángulo abierto y catarata. Se realizó cirugía de facotrabeculectomía estándar por dos vías. Se analizó la agudeza visual, presión intraocular, el número de medicamentos hipotensores oculares, la gravedad del daño glaucomatoso y se aplicó el cuestionario VFQ-25 para evaluar la calidad de vida durante el preoperatorio y a los seis meses de la cirugía.
Resultados: La agudeza visual se incrementó de manera significativa en el posoperatorio. La presión intraocular disminuyó, con una variación de la media de 25,5 mmHg a 16,6 mmHg; y se redujo el número de colirios hipotensores oculares. En el posoperatorio, el puntaje medio del VFQ-25 se incrementó a 95,9 puntos, con cambios positivos para todas las dimensiones. La gravedad del daño glaucomatoso se correlacionó de manera directa con la agudeza visual mejor corregida y la calidad de vida relativa a la función visual.
Conclusiones: La recuperación visual, el control de la presión intraocular y la reducción del número de colirios demuestran que la facotrabeculectomía es una opción viable para mejorar la calidad de vida relativa a la función visual, y es independiente de la gravedad del daño glaucomatoso.Descargas
